Special Educational Needs and English
Date: March 31, 2021
Time: 17:00 – 17:45
How can teachers support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) during their English lessons?
Do you teach English at a primary school?
Do you work with pupils with SEN? Do you work with NT2 pupils?
Would you like further support in knowing how to provide sufficient provision for these pupils?
So many questions! During this 45 minute workshop we will discuss the spectrum of SEN within primary education. You will be asked to consider the differences between SEN and NT2 and how this affects your teaching. The aim of this workshop is to support primary teachers in developing their knowledge on second language acquisition. In order to help them recognise the steps that pupils should be taking when participating in English lessons. “Passend onderwijs” requires schools to give all pupils access to the curriculum. This workshop will address the challenges this can bring with a focus on showing how these pupils, when correctly provided for, will help enrich their class environment.
